The holder has been designed to fit into a standard size spectrophotometer and allows illumination via all four sides of the cuvette. An orientation mark can be found on the holder and the cuvette so that the user can either benefit from the 3 mm window or the 2 mm window. The advantage of the rectangular shape is that it provides maximum opportunity for the cuvette to work with the widest varieties of spectrophotometers.

Every spectrophotometer has a particular beam height within the cuvette which may also provide addition experimental conditions and allow differing volumes to be used by the customer.

The minimum volume available is approximately 24 micro liters.
